2025 Masters Champions Dinner – Scottie Scheffler

When it comes to Masters traditions, few moments get me more excited than the Champions Dinner – and in 2025, Scottie Scheffler served up a menu that felt like a true taste of his home state of Texas. Held at the legendary Augusta National Golf Club on April 8th, the dinner gave Scheffler the chance to put his stamp on a tradition that’s been going strong since 1952. Following on from Jon Rahm’s Basque themed dinner the previous year couldn’t have been easy … I loved that menu!

What I love most about this ritual is how personal it is – each reigning champion gets to build a menu that tells their story, and Scottie didn’t hold back. From family recipes to bold Southern flavours, his selections gave fellow green jacket winners a genuine glimpse into his roots, personality, and a few good laughs along the way.

2025 Champions Dinner Menu

Scheffler decided to run a very similar menu to his previous Champions Dinner in 2023.

🥂 Appetisers

• “Scottie-Style” Cheeseburger Sliders – Served Scheffler Style – Mini burgers with fries tucked inside, a playful nod to Scheffler’s favorite comfort food.
• Firecracker Shrimp – Sweet Thai Chilli & Sriracha Mayo – Spicy shrimp served with a sweet Thai chili sauce and sriracha mayo.
• Papa Scheff’s Meatball & Ravioli Bites – Pecorino Cheese, Tomato Basil Sauce – This is a family recipe from Scheffler’s father, affectionately known as “Papa Chef.” This dish also humorously references Scheffler’s Christmas Day injury while making homemade ravioli.

🍲 First Course

• Texas-Style Chili – Cheddar Cheese, Jalapeños, Corn Chips – A hearty chili topped with cheddar cheese and jalapeños, inspired by a recipe from Scheffler’s coach, Randy Smith.

• Wood-Fired Cowboy Ribeye Steak
• Blackened Redfish
• Sides:
  • Family Style Macaroni and Cheese
  • Jalapeño Creamed Corn
  • Soy-Glazed Brussels Sprouts
  • Chipotle-Lime Roasted Sweet Potatoes

🍪 Dessert

• Warm Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie – Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

What would your choices be? For me, I’d have gone with Firecracker Shrimp, Texas-Style Chilli (assuming there was a meat free version), Blackened Redfish, and who doesn’t love a bit of cookie and ice cream for dessert?!

How did the 2025 Champions Dinner Unfold?

The 2025 Masters Champions Dinner was a night to remember, not just for the Texas-inspired menu curated by Scottie Scheffler, but also for the notable absences and unexpected appearances that added layers of intrigue to this storied tradition.

One of the most significant absences was Tiger Woods, who missed only his second Champions Dinner since his first Masters win in 1997. Reports indicated that a recent Achilles injury prevented him from attending, as he was unable to put sufficient weight on his foot to manage the stairs at Augusta National’s clubhouse.

Adding to the evening’s complexities was the presence of Ángel Cabrera, the 2009 Masters champion. Recently released from prison after serving time for serious charges, Cabrera’s attendance sparked discussions about redemption and the values upheld by Augusta National.

The dinner also featured a moment of levity, or perhaps tension as Phil Mickelson and Fred Couples, known for their public disagreements, were seated next to each other. While they appeared cordial in the official photo, the seating arrangement did not go unnoticed by attendees!

In a surprising turn, Bernhard Langer, a two-time Masters champion poised to play his final tournament, was reportedly not given an opportunity to speak during the dinner. Additionally, he was positioned off to the side in the group photo, leading some to question whether the occasion provided the send-off befitting his contributions to the sport.

Despite these moments, the evening remained a celebration of golf’s rich history and the camaraderie among its champions. Scheffler’s menu offered a personal touch that was believed to have resonated with many of the guests.
