Detailed Review

Having written hundreds of best selling books, James Patterson knows a thing or two about writing. Couple that with Peter de Jonge, the co-author of this and four other of Patterson’s books and we have a winning formula.

I recently also read and enjoyed their fictional story “Miracle at St Andrews”. There’s a full review of that book HERE.

The story of Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods is simply incredible. This is very much a non-fiction book, but if you don’t know anything about Tiger Woods, then you could be forgiven for thinking this story is fictional. Tiger, Tiger is jam packed with unbelievable true stories that have been meticulously pieced together from the many interviews that Tiger and the key people around him have shared over the years.

The Best Golf Books To Read Article

Tiger, Tiger tells the Tiger Woods story from his early childhood, where his parents quickly recognised they had an extraordinary talent, to his unique rise to a global sporting icon. The book highlights the influence of his father, Earl Woods, a former US Army officer and the more back seat role (yet still very supportive) mother Tida.

Admission time. Usually I read a physical book but in this instance, I had a lot of driving to do, and decided to download the Audible version. I feel like a cheat! Read on to find out why I would recommend buying the physical book ahead of the audiobook.

At 448 pages long, Tiger, Tiger isn’t for the faint-hearted, part time golf fan. It delves deep into a lot of the mental struggles Woods faced on his journey. Highlighting Tiger’s exceptional determination and relentless pursuit of golfing perfection, Tiger, Tiger describes how Woods copes with the highest level of public scrutiny, bounces back from major “incidents” and deals with complex race barriers.

Tiger, Tiger – Audiobook

I said I wouldn’t recommend the audiobook, let me clarify this. The audiobook is fine, but the narrator Landon Woodson it’s fair to say isn’t a golf fan. I’m sure that most people will be okay with this but for me the constant mispronunciation of some of the key names and places in world golf really grated on me. For example, Steve Ballesteros … is that Seve’s English cousin? The winner of The Open apparently lifts the Clar-ett Jug and they may have won the Open at Lie-tham St Annes? This is to name just a few.

As I said, I’m sure most people would be fine with it, but it showed to me that the narration wasn’t thoroughly researched. The audiobook is 13 ½ hours long, so I guess I should be a little more forgiving, but I’d expect more from a book by an author as big as Patterson.

My recommendation would be to purchase a physical copy of the book.

Tiger, Tiger is a MUST READ book for any fan of golf, sports, Tiger Woods, or a reader who is interested in learning more about the life of a global sporting icon.
