Plantation Course – Kapalua Golf

Plantation Course Hawaii

The Plantation Course at Kapalua Golf was established in 1991 and since then has been consistently recognised as the best Course in Hawaii. Originally designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore. It was the first course that the now famous design duo Coore & Crenshaw designed. Since 1999, each January the PGA Tour’s Sentry Tournament of Champions is held here. Plantation was always designed to be a breathtaking course. Set on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains, Plantation offers unique, stunning ocean views from virtually every hole. In 2019 the Plantation Course was renovated in a nine month project that restored much of the original intent of the designers. Just look at these views:

Live views of the course can be seen on the Kapalua website.

This multi award winning course has five main tee blocks but the course can also be played as a combination of mixed tee blocks.

Plantation caters for all levels of golfers using this hybrid style of tees. There’s 8 different lengths of course available.

Plantation Course

The 525 yard par 4, seventh hole, is renowned for seeing some of the longest drives in PGA Tour history. In 2024 Max Homa recorded the PGA’s longests drive yet, at 477 yards in near perfect long drive conditions. Homa wrote on X (formerly Twitter) “For it being uphill into the wind with no roll I was pretty proud of this one.”

Each year the top golfers from around the world assemble at the Plantation course to play the PGA Sentry Tournament of Champions.
