CIGMAN CT-1200 Laser Rangefinder – Price when reviewed: £79.99 / $85.99 (Check LATEST Amazon Price in your region)
Regular readers will likely know that the CIGMAN CT-1200 isn’t the first CIGMAN rangefinder to be reviewed on the SGTV website. Back in July 2024, we reviewed their previous version the CT-1000.
CIGMAN have generously sent us out this new rangefinder and I’m keen to see what’s different, so I’ve put my regular Shot Scope PRO ZR rangefinder to one side, and tested the CT-1200 on the golf course over the last few weeks to try to give the most comprehensive review. Please note, as with all my reviews, how this rangefinder was procured (gifted in this case), makes no difference to my review. I will always be honest, unbiased and thorough with these reviews.

First Thoughts
The CT-1200 is VERY different to the previous model! As you can see from the image below the CT-1200 is far smaller.

It’s also much lighter. Weighing in at just 146g (manufacturer states 152g) as opposed to the heavier CT-1000 which weighed 206g. Clearly there’s been some big changes … let’s get into more detail.
It is important to put everything into context. For me, this rangefinder falls into the “budget rangefinder” category due to the low price. Read on to see how you can buy this great value rangefinder for as little as £51.48 / $64.11.
I have to say on first impressions this rangefinder, unlike the previous version we reviewed, feels like a budget rangefinder. While I like the fact this is much lighter and smaller than the CT-1000, I don’t love the feel of it. The CT-1000 felt much more premium in the hand due to it’s extra weight and rubber grips. The CT-1200 doesn’t have the rubber grips and when gripping the rangefinder straight away you feel the plastic casing. I think CIGMAN have missed a trick here. The size is a big improvement in my opinion, but the lack of soft feel rubber around the casing lets it down.

CIGMAN CT-1200 Magnification
A standout aspect of the CIGMAN Golf CT-1200 is its bright, high-quality optics and impressive magnification power. I think the clarity of lens stands up against or is better than any other rangefinder I’ve tested so far in this price bracket.
Equipped with a sharp LCD display and 6x zoom, this rangefinder gives you a crisp, close-up view of your surroundings. Whether you’re locking onto the flag or scanning for hazards further down the fairway, the enhanced clarity makes it easy to identify your target and get accurate distance readings with confidence.

CIGMAN Golf Rangefinder Slope Compensation Mode
One of the most impressive capabilities of the CT-1200 is its built-in slope adjustment feature. This function intelligently recalculates yardages by factoring in the elevation changes between you and the target — whether you’re playing uphill or downhill. On undulating courses, where visual judgment alone can be misleading, this feature helps eliminate guesswork by delivering more precise readings. That means greater confidence in your club selection and smarter decision-making on every shot.
However, it’s important to remember that using slope-adjusted distances is not permitted during official competitions. Governing organisations like the R&A and USGA classify slope features as non-conforming for tournament play, as they provide enhanced data that could offer a competitive edge. By automatically accounting for elevation, rangefinders with slope can reduce the challenge of judging terrain by eye — a fundamental skill in the game that ensures fair play across the board.
To meet these regulations, the CT-1200 includes a function mode which allows users to toggle through and turn this off. This allows players to disable the feature during competitive rounds. When the slop mode is turned on the screen on the side of the rangefinder turns green to clearly indicate to other golfers that you have it switched on.
That said, slope mode remains an extremely useful tool during practice rounds or friendly games. It’s especially helpful when learning a new course or trying to refine distance control in varying conditions.

Digital Display
The CT-1200 has a LCD display on the side which shows the yardage that you’ve just scanned. The jury is still out on this one. At first sight, I thought this feature was the biggest waste of time ever. However, having used the rangefinder for a few rounds it actually started to make (a little) sense. If you’re someone who struggles to read the digital numbers through the lens, then you can simply look at the larger displayed numbers at the side.
For me, this isn’t a great benefit, but I’m sure some golfers will really appreciate it.
3 Year Warranty
CIGMAN care about their customers and offer a industry-leading 36-month after-sale service on this product and lifetime of technical support. Most rangefinders only come with a 1 or 2 year warranty.
Rechargeable CIGMAN Rangefinder
The CT-1200 is powered by a built-in 3.7V/750mAh lithium-ion battery and conveniently recharges using the included USB-C cable. This eliminates the need for disposable batteries, making it both budget-friendly and more sustainable. A full charge delivers enough power for several rounds of golf, so you can head to the course with confidence. The fast-charging port is neatly positioned just beneath the viewing lens for easy access.

The rechargeable Li-ion battery has a long battery life. Up to 20,000 precise measurements can be taken from a full charge.
Fast Reading Rangefinder
One of the most appreciated aspects of the CIGMAN Golf CT-1200 is its fast reading capability. It’s noticeably quicker than my old PeakPulse Rangefinder, and the same quick speed as the CT-1000.
The rangefinder delivers quick and accurate distance measurements in much less than a second, which helps maintain the pace of play. You won’t be held up waiting for the device to calculate distances, allowing you to focus more on your game. CIGMAN states 0.05s for a measurement or 0.46 seconds for flagpole lock.
Flagpole Mode
Another standout function is the Flagpole Mode, which utilises advanced Pin-Seeker technology to lock onto the flag with speed and accuracy — even when background distractions like trees or buildings are present. This smart targeting feature removes any uncertainty, helping you dial in precise yardages to the pin and make more confident approach shots.
Additionally, the rangefinder includes an adjustable diopter, allowing you to fine-tune the focus for a sharp, clear view of your target — tailored to your eyesight.

Mode Confusion
Even I, as a very experienced rangefinder user, got a little confused with the modes on this rangefinder. Realistically a golfer would probably find the one they want to use and never change it. If you do want to change the mode, it’s simple, just press “Button B” as I’ve labelled them in the diagram below to toggle through the modes.
If you want to turn slope on in any given mode, you hold button A and button B simultaneously for a couple of seconds. The screen on the side of the unit will then turn green to indicate to other golfers that you have slope mode activated. Do the same again to turn it off. It’s worth noting that when the slope is turned on, the digital display no longer shows the yardage scanned, just the green screen.
If you need more details on the modes then the user manual can be found further down in this article.
Portable Rangefinder
For added convenience, the CT-1200 includes a magnetic mount. This allows golfers to easily attach the rangefinder to a golf cart or any metal surface, keeping it within reach at all times.
On the unit I tested, I found this to be quite a weak magnet even though it had been upgraded from the original version of the product which I saw earlier in the year. In the UK this likely won’t matter since very little golf is played with carts, but I know outside of the UK the magnet not being very high strength, could be a negative.
This rangefinder is definitely designed with portability in mind. Its compact, lightweight build ensures it fits neatly into any golf bag and won’t weigh you down on the course. For added convenience, it comes with a complimentary lanyard and carabiner, giving you flexible carrying options — whether you prefer to clip it to your bag or keep it close at hand during play.
How do you use the CIGMAN CT-1200 Golf Laser Rangefinder?
You can use this straight out of the box, so no setup is required. The rangefinder is really easy to use: simply look through the sight, aim at your target (twist the focus wheel if you need to sharpen the image), and then hit button A to initiate the laser technology! Hey presto, you’ll feel the jolt technology vibrate to confirm that you’re locked on, and distance measurement will be displayed.

Use button B (mode button) to scroll between the different functions and the Slope Lock Switch to turn the slope feature on/off.
What is the difference between the CT-1200 and CT-1000?
There are four main differences you need to know about:
- Size – This is notably smaller and lighter. For me the new size is much better.
- Range – The maximum scannable distance has increased from 1000m to 1200m.
- Clarity – New lens allows 15% more light than previous model.
- Colour Screen – The CT-1200 now offers a small colour screen on the side for clarity of readings.
Who are CIGMAN?
CIGMAN may still be a newcomer to the golf world, but they’re certainly no strangers to precision. With a solid reputation in the construction sector for producing high-quality measuring tools, it’s clear they know their way around accuracy. If the CT-1000 is any indication, they have the potential to make a serious impact in the golf tech space.

Conclusion
At this price point the CT-1200 is one of the most impressive mini rangefinders I’ve tested. Yes, it feels a little cheap, but if size and price are your priority then this could be the solution.
✅ Pros ✅
- Budget friendly price
- Very compact in size
- Sharp, clear lens
- Rechargeable with Auto switch off
- LCD screen on side clearly shows distance scanned
- Easy to use, ready to go straight out of the box
- Supplied with lanyard and carry case
- 6 x Magnification
- Market leading 3 year warranty
- Can also measure speed … not particularly useful for golf but it’s a benefit!
❌ Cons ❌
- You can have it in any colour … as long as it’s white you want!
- Outer case has a very plastic feel, not premium like the CT-1000
- Too many different modes could be confusing for some
- Only one colour of indicators within the scope (some premium rangefinders now offer red or black which can help with clarity of data in the display)
- Magnet isn’t the strongest
Incredible Value Mini Rangefinder
Overall, the CIGMAN Golf CT-1200 Rangefinder does the job. I love the compact size, and it certainly ticks all the basic requirements of a budget rangefinder. I can’t put it at the top of the list of best Budget Golf Rangefinders, simply because the plastic finish feels much more economical that the CT-1000.
Its combination of advanced features, such as magnification, golf slope compensation mode, flagpole mode means that this rangefinder is still worth buying, but personally if I was shopping for a budget rangefinder, then I’d recommend looking at it’s predecessor the CT-1000 or the new CT-1200 PRO which I’m also currently testing. This one is worth the wait!
If your decision is based purely on price point, or you’re looking for a very small, but perfectly usable rangefinder, then the CIGMAN CT-1200 may well be worth a try.
