Most hotels I stay in have thin, bumpy carpets which are terrible for practising putting on. Carrying my full-size PuttOut Mat isn’t really practical so I purchased this compact putting mat recently which rolls up into a small package and is supplied in a handy drawstring bag.

When working away I often have a spare half an hour after dinner and this mat is fantastic for hitting a quick 50 short putts to keep my technique grooved.

DO NOT put your golf clubs on an aircraft without this! There are plenty of different versions out there, but this is the one that I’ve used successfully in recent years.

Bag strengtheners like this help prevent impact damage to your golf clubs while baggage handlers are “moving” them around the airport and aircraft. We’ve all seen pictures of someone’s favourite driver with a snapped head when arriving on holiday … make sure you don’t join that club!

I can’t work with one screen! I’m sure many readers will already be in the same camp. Using one screen is unproductive if you’re doing anything more than clearing your inbox. For under £100 / $120 this screen is fantastic value.

Steel Air-Up 850ml Water Bottle

I love drinking cold drinks but I’m not a huge fan of plain water unless it’s freshly served and ice cold. I usually choose to have a cordial or juice but that’s not great for my teeth. I recently discovered Air-Up. Air-Up works perfectly for me because I’m only drinking natural water yet the Air-Up concept means it tastes like flavoured water.

The metal version keeps drinks cold for longer and is more rugged for travel. Having this by my bed at night allows me to have a “flavoured” drink AFTER I’ve cleaned my teeth, without fear of a visit to the dentist!

Samsonite Carry-On Suitcase

I’ve had a LOT of carry-on style suitcases and quickly realised that the old adage “buy cheap buy twice” is very true … in fact more like three or four times! In my opinion, it’s best to invest in a strong, high quality case.

Samsonite make very good quality suitcases. I bought this as part of a two-piece pack with a large suitcase too, but the carry-on is the one I use most regularly.

The case has good features including plenty of separate compartments and a handy USB link which allows you to charge your tech while leaving a battery pack in the suitcase. Most importantly it has VERY strong wheels. I’ve used this once or twice a week now for over a year and the wheels are still as manoeuvrable as they were on day one.

Pack All Shoe Bag

I’ve tried a few of these bags over the years and this is by far the best I’ve had.

While this might not look like much, it is a very tough and durable bag that is also waterproof. Perfect if you’re putting wet shoes into a suitcase. The bag is very light and folds flat when not in use which makes it very compact. The fabric handle is sturdy, comfy and good for hooking onto other bags if required.

Size-wise, there’s ample storage space in the bags. I comfortably fit two bulky size ten training shoes in there. High-quality zippers mean that I don’t have to worry about the bag popping open while on my travels.

Simple, yet functional, these bags are fantastic value.
